Race Day Details

On The Day

Event Description

South Bremer Trails is a new and exciting trail event in the Langhorne Creek Wine region. The course is flat, with roughly 1km of bitumen, and the rest made up of hard dirt road and sandy track. Although it may be a fast route, it will also present a decent challenge for all runner types. We look forward to seeing you for an exciting day of trail running, live music, great wine and even better company!

Please note this event has a strict registration limit of 250 people.

The Distances

We have 3 distances on offer. A 23km long course, a 15km medium course and an 8km short course.

On The Day

Our event starts and finishes at Kimbolton Wines cellar door. This year we will not be taking pre-orders for grazing plates like we did last year. There will however be coffee, plenty of food and live music at the finish line so we encourage entrants to take some time after the race to sit down, put their feet up and recharge while enjoying the serenity of the surrounding vineyards.

Last year, we offered an option to purchase a “PB Pack”. The PB Pack is a collection of 6 Kimbolton cellar door favourites at discounted rate.

Note: we will not be taking pre-orders for this purchase, only over-the-counter sales.

The Race

All events start and finish at Kimbolton Cellar door.

The long course is a 23km loop starting at 8:30am. There is roughly 1km of bitumen before hitting the hard dirt road. You’ll make a right and head past Chilton Scrub before hitting some soft sand looping around local farm lands to make your way up towards North Bremer. From there it’s a turnaround a speedy trip back with one last loop and a tough 400m of sand before bringing it home.

The medium course is 15km and follows the same route as the long but doesn’t go up towards North Bremer. After the farm loop you bring it home towards the final sand track.

The short course is 8km and an out and back from Kimbolton, then detouring up Giles road and back around. You get to hit the sand twice which makes for a tough route still a lot of fun.

All course maps are available on the home page.

Gear

What to bring: There will be aid-stations but we do recommend bringing some form of drink/nutrition if you are doing the long and medium courses. At this stage there will be 3 drinks stations for the long course, 2 for the medium and 1 for the short.

Please bring a carry cup to reduce the need for disposable cups.

Other gear: There is no mandatory gear for this race but we recommend some amount of water (especially on the long course), a hat and a mobile phone wherever possible in the unlikely event that you will need first-aid assistance. As for shoes, a lightweight trail shoe will be ideal but a sturdy road shoe will also suffice as there is no technical sections and no hills.

Other Details

Toilets: There will be toilets available on-site, but also public toilets in the heart of Langhorne Creek at the Town Hall. It is recommended that you aim to use the public facilities on your way in to reduce lines and wait times before taking to the start line.

Food and drink: As stated above, there will be world-class bacon and egg sandwiches and coffee available from the crack of dawn from our lovely friends down the road at The Langhorne Creek General Store. There will also be a Paella van for some post-race refuelling.

Parking: There will be some parking at the Kimbolton Cellar Door, and due to our entry cap of 250 runners we should accommodate the majority of entrants. We will however deliver some options for overflow parking in our race briefing which will be emailed out closer to the date. As always, please try to carpool wherever you can.

Road closures: The roads will be closed for the duration of the race. This is to ensure the safety of the participants and volunteers. There will be a course sweeper and as the last runners come through we will be opening sections of the road so as to minimise the disturbance to local residents.

If you are planning to walk we can only accommodate you on the short course due to our strict cut-off times.
